Do I need planning permission to put a door from the house to the garage?

You do not need planning permission for this type of work. You will need to notify your local authority Building Control and carry out the work under a building notice. An internal door from your house into the garage must be a minimum 30-minute rated fire door (FD30) with smoke seals. The threshold to the door must be at least 100mm higher than the garage slab level, to prevent burning fuel in the garage from flowing into the house.
